Over the last few years the number of web sites pertaining to genealogy in general, and Italian genealogy in particular, has exploded. Many Internet sites, both in the USA and abroad, can be accessed from the home computer making research sources available to anyone.

While most web sites do not contain primary source records (original records) they do aid the researcher in learning about the culture, people and research techniques needed to proceed with researching their Italian ancestors.

The best place to start is with Cyndis List of links to almost every conceivable place or subject matter. Simply type in the geographic location or subject of interest. A list will appear breaking the links down into specific areas (i.e. Societies, Libraries, Archives, etc.). Take the time to look through all of the possibilities and you will be rewarded with almost countless resources, both genealogical and cultural.

To find a specific comune (= US town), province (= US county) or region (=US state) try one of the many search engines available. www.Google.com works very well to find very specific locations.
